PATOLA
Patola cloths were made in Gujarat India, in double ikat silk, were traded widely in the Indonesian archipelago from medieval times, and were treasured as sacred cloths by the various island cultures. Patola motifs are found in ikat traditions throughout the area. The pieces shown below came from Flores, and are of similar age, 1-200 years, with a similar degree of age-related damage. (see large image of #PT10)
